I hope this isn't a silly question but I've seen a few videos recently where people put a few drops of oil in with their foundation and say that its a really smooth application and hydrating etc.
I love facial oil as I have very dry skin but I would never wear it outside because doesn't oil on your skin make you fry? I remember hearing about people using baby oil or cooking oil to tan/burn
Is there a difference between facial oil and the types of oil people use to tan? Is there a difference between a few drops in foundation and a full face of oil?
I've tried googling it and can't seem to find an answer, I hope it isn't a stupid question.
Thanks

Re: Facial oil and sun
I think any kind of oil does have a chance of making your skin burn. Tanning oil specifically contains products that have hydrating properties but also other agents to help with a tan. But it can also contains a small amount of spf to help prevent sunburn, but not always (if used properly of course). I also have very dry skin but I would not use the facial oil with my foundation if I'm going to go tan at the beach. However there are indoor tanning oils that have no spf that are specifically for indoors (used for tanning booths etc).maggieg wrote:I hope this isn't a silly question but I've seen a few videos recently where people put a few drops of oil in with their foundation and say that its a really smooth application and hydrating etc.

Regardless, I would be careful when using face oil with your foundation if you're going to be outside all day. Maybe use a foundation that has a little spf. Or put on a facial moisturizer that has spf, then mix your facial oil with your foundation. I sometimes use face oil with my foundation (depending on the foundation of course). Sorry I didn't answer all of your questions.
If you have any more questions about it I would ask an esthetician because they can probably answer any questions in more details.

Re: Facial oil and sun
I doubt a drop or two of oil would have any ill effects, especially if you're using sone kind of spf (either in your moisturizer or foundation, or underneath your makeup). If you think about it, tanning oils are usually slathered generousky over the body, while beauty oils are used more sparingly. I would think it would be no different than someone with naturally oily skin being in the sun.

Yeah i don't think that small amount would cause any harm. I think the main reason why oil makes you tan/burn faster is because it makes you all shiny which reflects the sun, like when you're in the pool.
