her answer to that person on her insta stories asking about being plus size and pregnant is exactly the reason why she's a dangerous fucking person and the fact that she wants to become a therapist/counsellor is horrifying to me.

There are plenty of considerations that occur when pregnancy and a high BMI coincide and some of these considerations are indeed risks:
- it can be more difficult to become pregnant while in the obese BMI range or higher
- the chances of miscarriage and stillbirth are also higher
- gestational diabetes
- pre eclampsia
- risk of having to undergo c-section
- risks associated with c - section while in a larger body
- longer labour
- heavier bleeding post delivery

Thats without even going into the risks for the baby themselves. For one It can be harder to detect health problems for baby in utero because it is harder to scan a patient carrying more abdominal fat. (I wont go into the risk of baby being at a high birth weight or baby's risk of having diabetes or being obese themselves because these are things HAES give zero fucks about)

What about your dietary plans for while you are pregnant. Weight gain is recommended during pregnancy no matter what size you are. If you within the healthy BMI range it is recommended to gain something like 25 to 35 lbs. Underweight individuals might want to try and gain 28-40lbs and for obese individuals it's something like 11-20 lbs. (I'm pretty sure that's just for carrying a single baby but could be wrong!)

Gain too much and there are risks for baby and you. Lose weight (yes even obese pregnant individuals) and again there are risks for baby and you.

Obviously plenty of people get pregnant and don't even think about any of that kind of thing. Every pregnancy is individual. But these are things that the medical team involved in making your pregnancy safe and happy will be keeping in mind.

Those in larger bodies may have to prepare for more weight observation at appointments than lower weight patients. Your blood pressure may be monitored more closely. You may also be recommended to have injections to lower the risk of developing blood clots.

To ask the woman on insta stories why she was so concerned and say it's due to internalised fat phobia is disgusting. So to answer the poor woman who is plus sized and concerned about pregnancy let me answer for you:

Yes, there are risks involved in pregnancy with high BMI. There are risks involved in every pregnancy. But plenty of overweight and obese women do give birth to healthy babies all the time with the help of amazing staff at hospitals, and there are things you can do easily that will help ensure a smooth pregnancy and delivery such as monintoring weight gain and including some exercise (chat with doctor about the exercise part)
Talk to your doctor about any worries you may have.
Cooperate with your doctor/midwife. I highly doubt they are fatphobic and against you. They want best for mum and baby. Let them do their job

She looks so unwell I'm not suggesting that being slim is a marker or prerequisite for being healthy necessarily, but her body looks like it's uncomfortable to inhabit. I don't think she does any strength training, so I imagine her knees and other big joints hurt, and she gets winded just chuffing around her apartment. It's just no way to go through life.
